Taking Back Halloween

Here at our house we get around 100 trick-or-treaters every year.  This year was no different with a record high of 119!

Every year I try to do something to help "take back Halloween" and give glory to God.  This year, I put a sign on our door that said, "If you are a skater, raise your hand."

The first group of kids that came to the door had 2 junior high boys in the front with their hands raised.  I gave them each one of the skater packets I had put together.  They were so excited that after I gave them their candy, they asked if they could give me a hug.  It was a pretty awesome start to the night.

So, what was in the packet?
Mike Steinkamp's Skate Testimony on DVD
The Gospel of John put out by Pocket Testament League
NOTW Sticker
MAD Skates Sticker
MAD Skates Business Card with the Skate Night information on the back

I handed out approximately 10 complete packets, 3 more Gospels of John, and about 5 business cards.  I just pray God uses these items to reach into the hearts of the young people and 2 women who took the packets.  I ask that all of you take a moment and say a prayer for these people as well.  We need your help...

Washington State is listed as one of the most unchurched states in the U.S. and Wikipedia states that we are part of what is now known as the "Unchurched Belt." As of 2000, the six U.S. states reported to have the lowest rate of religious adherence were Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Nevada, Maine, and West Virginia.  In January of 2009, Washington was rated as 6th lowest in having "religion as part of their daily life."

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
