Skate Night in Review - March 16th

Skate night last night was a lot of fun. Kory and Nick returned healthier than they had been, and it was good to have them back. Kory bought Nick a Pepsi for getting onto the grind rail, which was pretty cool for a new skater.

We had three new skaters this week - Michael, Colyn, and Dakota. We did a short study on "What is the Bible?" Colyn led the closing prayer, we ate through two large pizzas, and had several bruises from some beautiful falls but no major injuries. Praise God for that!

Colyn & Dakota's dad, Jamie, took some great pictures of his sons. Madison (their sister) seemed to have a good time just hanging out, and it was nice to have a girl there. Our volunteers did a great job of setting up and tearing down, and overall it was a good night at skate night.

A quick reminder to everyone to keep me in your prayers as I travel to Alabama to visit my friend for the rest of this week. Jason will be holding down the fort until I get home. I'll be back in time for Sunday church service and Monday night's skate night.

Also, please remember that Monday, March 30th we'll be having a guest speaker as well as our first "free pizza night." So bring your friends. As always, parents are welcome to hang out but dress warmly, if you are not skating it gets pretty cold on the sidelines.

Skate Night - Snow Night - March 9 in review

Due to bizarre weather in the Seattle area, we only had 2 kids show up for skate night. Our faithful - Kory & Connor - were there with scriptures memorized and boards in hand.

In a freak snowfall Monday, some areas received as much as 3 inches of snow making the hills and roadways around the Puget Sound a skating rink for cars and trucks. 3 inches doesn't sound like much until you consider there isn't a flat spot in this area unless you've just come off a mile high hill and are getting ready to go back up another one. Although, the Bothell/Kenmore area was one of the least hit with snow for once, the traffic in the surrounding areas made getting home from work and then to skate night difficult for many.

My friend Jeremy was able to make it in to help set up in Micki's absence. He brought his camera and took a lot of shots which I am still waiting to see... hint hint Jeremy!

Jason had a rare night off from college, which was closed due to the weather. He road to the church in the M.A.D. Mobile with me and helped set up for the night. Then he joined me in falling a lot as we attempted to learn how to skateboard. Connor tried to teach me a few tricks, but so far, I'm just able to occasionally land an ollie and hold a very short manual. The ground hurts a lot more at 34 than it did when I was 16.

Well, keep us in your prayers this week as we lean on God more and more each day. God bless you all. We'll see you soon, and remember... you're welcome anytime. Come on down and see what we're up to on Monday nights.

3-2-09 Skate Night in Review

  • Six kids in attendance.
  • We had three new guests this Monday night.
  • We gave away one Bible.
  • Connor busted up his wrist. :*(
  • We finished our 2-week study on the temptation of Christ and how we can learn to stand against temptation by looking at how Christ stood against temptation.
  • I forgot my camera, but Connor brought his. I'm hoping to download some of his pictures onto my laptop next week. Nick brought his video camera, and he's hoping to do a short skate video for us.
  • Kory helped prepare some fliers to hand out at his school, and we left some for Bethany Bible Church to use.

Pray for our fallen soldier! OK he's actually just wounded.

Connor is one of the young men who has been with us from the start even going to our first fundraiser back before time began.

Last night he was jumping a sweet gap when the board grew a mind of its own. Attached is a picture of Connor at the hospital. You gotta love a mom who is willing to take this picture. Love ya Deb!

In all seriousness, please pray for Connor to have a quick recovery.
