Awesome Announcement & Call for Help

The next generation of Spore and the newest M.A.D. Skates skateboard fanatic is on the way. Jason and I are expecting our first child just after Christmas. We are very excited, and we continue to praise God for His never ending blessings in our life.

I was advised at my doctor's appointment last Thursday that I am not allowed to lift more than 30 pounds. As many of you know, our ramps weigh 70 - 85 pounds each. I am the primary person removing the ramps out of the van each week, which now is not a possibility.

I am looking for strong men to sign up for one Monday night to climb inside the van and unload the ramps and help set them up in the gym. This takes 30-45 minutes starting at 5:15. I have already solicited a helper for Memorial Day evening and June 1st. If you are interested in helping and are willing to lend a hand, please contact me via email or cell phone. brett@madskates.com or 206-423-0813.

Manual Pad/Fun Box Arrived!

The manual pad/fun box arrived today. Jason will be putting it together later this week, tossing it into the van, and you'll get to see it and skate it Monday night!

May 18th - Personal Study

1. How can you determine God’s will for your life?
2. How can you get God’s strength in your life?
3. How can you tell if your life is pleasing to God?
4. Do you have any friends that are “bearing bad fruit?” Are they being a worse influence on you than you are being a good influence on them?

Praise Report and Looking Forward

PRAISE REPORTS
1. Skate night last Monday (May 11th) had our greatest turn out yet. 1o young people joined us for a night of skating and Bible study. We had one new person this week.

2. We were excited to have our resident teen photographer back. Trevor is a blessing to us all as he spends the entire night taking picture after picture of the skaters pulling off their best tricks for the camera. We're hoping to post some of those pictures soon. :)

3. Enough donations came in to purchase one of the two skate ramps we wanted to get this go round, so I have made those deposits and will order the ramp tomorrow! It should be here by the last Monday of this month - Memorial Day - also free pizza night!

4. Today I heard from one of our moms who is trying to set up a skate night at her church where M.A.D. Skates can continue to make a difference on Wednesday nights in addition to the Monday nights at Bethany Bible.

5. I also heard that there is a new interest in reading the Bible by a couple of our young men, and that makes my heart leap with joy as I know God is on the move in their hearts.

LOOKING FORWARD
1. Next Monday - Third Monday of the month - We will continue our latest tradition of celebrating the birthdays of our skaters. Bev will check to see if we have anyone whose birthday falls in May.

2. Last Monday of the Month - Memorial Day - Lord willing our new ramp will be here, and we'll be doing free pizza as we always do on the last Monday.

PRAYER REQUESTS
1. A strong man to help set up each week. I'd love to have various gentlemen help with this by signing up for once a month or once every other month. That way the burden will not fall on only one or two guys.

2. More funding so we can buy the other skate ramps we would like to buy as well as extend our outreach to the other churches that would like to have us.

3. Continued spiritual growth in the young people that come to skate night.

4. Guidance for our leadership as we look at expanding the outreach.

5. Safety for our youth, leadership, vehicle, and ramps as well as the parents who have dedicated themselves to driving carloads of youth to skate night each week.

GOD BLESS!

May 11th - Personal Study

1. What are the three characteristics of a follower of Christ that we read about in Colossians and I Corinthians 13:13?

2. When praying, what should be a part of your prayers and daily life?

3. How can you tell if the gospel is “bearing fruit?”

Bench! Manual Pad! Fun Box! Bench! Manual Pad!

These are the cries I hear each week, and I need your help!

Our youth are taking things into their own hands and using multiple Freshpark ramps to create their own manual pads. The problem is it takes several of the ramps to do so, leaving only a couple of ramps to skate the way they were intended. Additionally, we're creating a bit of a liability for ourselves in not using the ramps as originally intended.

So, how can you help? Send money of course! We need $250 to get the manual pad from Freshpark and $250 to get a Mojo Skate Bench. This includes freight to our location. Why so expensive you may ask? Both ramps are highly portable and lightweight, which is exactly what we need for our mobile application.

When we started Skate Night, we knew we were starting with the bare minimum in ramps and rails. So far, we have only been able to add 2 grind rails. One we purchased off Craigslist, and one that was donated by Avondale Bible Church & Pastor Ben. (Thanks again!)

All this to say, please donate today to help expand our skate ministry. Already we have seen over 20 kids come through our doors with over a handful of kids that come consistently every week. We're working with three churches to set up events at their locations sometime this spring/summer. God is on the move in the skate community. Grab on and come along for the ride.

One time donations may be made via Paypal (www.madskates.com - click on the "donate" button near the bottom), in person via check or cash, or a check sent through the mail to 21705 2nd Avenue SE, Bothell, WA 98021. All donations are tax deductible.

May 4th - Personal Study

1. Colossians 1:1 says that Paul was an apostle by the “will of God.” Do you see yourself living in the will of God? Are you where you are because you chose to be there or because God put you there?

2. Colossians was written while Paul was in prison where?

3. There were 4 prison epistles written by Paul. Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. How many of these were written by Paul with Timothy by his side? Which ones?

4. Paul wrote the letter to the church at Colosse, because some had begun to mix true Christianity with non-Christian beliefs. Are there any ways you see yourself mixing true Christian beliefs with non-Christian beliefs? If Paul were writing this letter to you, what would he be asking you to look at in your own life?
